Dedication

To “The Old Coach”, Larry Folloni, who was conceived in a shack by the railroad track in Bridgewater , MA , a few months after the Boston Red Sox won their last World Series Championship of the 20 th century in 1918. Young Larry shown here sitting, with a cap (before the days of licensed, affordable Red Sox hats!)

Parents can not only thank Coach Folloni for ensuring that this Red Sox Tribute CD is inspirational, eclectic, creative, wholesome (G-Rated) and excellent, but they should know that during and after his career he was known as “The Conscience of High School Sports” in Massachusetts. He was Director of the State Hoop Tourneys in the 80's. In the 50's he was the catalyst to add more divisions to the tournaments to allow smaller schools to compete more favorably. He was the Chairman of the State Athletic rules committee for 13 years and was a leader in achieving (Title 9) parity in girls and boys sports participation in school sports throughout New England .

Long before being selected AD of the year for the eastern seaboard, Larry served our country in the Army Air Corps in WWII, was a Hall of Famer for BU, and was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 to compete for 2 nd base against a youngster named Jackie Robinson. His major league dreams were shattered along with his cheekbone a la Tony C. in a Boston Semi-Pro League game before he got the chance to compete in the Pros. Did I mention that his N.C.A.A. record of reaching 1 st base 17 consecutive times lasted over 45 years? And that he was the N.H. Senior Golf Champion for two years before being stricken with serious illnesses?

It's fitting that the Old Coach, who always believed in success, and who never, ever gave up in anything that he did, including waiting for the '04 Sox to Redeem a Beleaguered past, is as a representative of his contemporaries and all others who suffered long knowing that all great things come to those who wait with hope and keep faith, is our TOP TIPTer.

“Have Fun, Play Hard, Play Fair. Do Your Best & Let God do the Rest!”

“If you win enjoy, if you lose, be gracious and congratulate the winner.”

Larry Folloni, Author of “My Way” 1919-

Selfless, patient, humble, hard working, a Prince of Graciousness, a genius, humorist, scientist, raconteur, world traveler, diplomat, a world leader in clean and renewable energy resource development, a hugely accomplished and respected problem solver, a high level public servant for U.S. Presidents and Governor Brown and the citizens they served, a great father and a great friend. Dr. James A. Walker. If the mark of success in life is how many people around you that you've helped to become successful up to their highest hopes, then Dr. Walker is one of the most successful men alive. Just wait until you read HIS BOOK(s)!!!!!! {And check out the section where his father, the one time President of The United States Little League Organization, brought young James to sit right behind the dugout at the 1952 MLB All Star Game at Shibe Park in Philadelphia . And after the game young James got to go to the Locker Room to visit with a who's who of baseball legends, including Mickey Mantle, Dom DiMaggio, Larry Dobi (who was a later visitor to my Dad's house in Bridgewater, MA, as he was scouting local baseball legend Glen Tufts), Yogi Berra, Nellie Fox, Stachel Paige!! Most Special Appreciation:

Helen Mary Louise Mark Folloni. Helen was tragically
paralyzed from head to toe in 2000. Although she can do virtually nothing for herself, including speak, we know that somehow her prayers are sustaining and supporting our efforts. She always loved the Red Sox. The song “I Love The Red Sox” is actually a slightly modernized adaptation of a song that she made up to sing to the Folloni children in the 1950's. Fittingly, it is all of her grandchildren that sing the last verse on this song in the “The It's Possible Team” album. Aka Saka Taka Laka Maka, Helen, We Love You Too!

To Larry Bond, the world's greatest confidant, consultant and confidence constructor. Larry backed up his encouragement by being the first major cash contributor to this effort. Larry also first came up with the brilliant and simply correct idea to give our music away to our deserving troops overseas, as much as we could possibly afford to. (So what if we give away some music albums? Our service heroes have volunteered to risk their lives as required, so that we can continue to enjoy our magnificent bounty of freedoms and traditions, including our great all American past time, Major League Baseball. As much as the Yankees and Sox Nation Fans might pick on one another, we all know that we are united as AMERICANS for freedom and democracy. To Thu Thuy T. Vo, a passenger on the last flight out of occupied Vietnam in 1975 a beneficiary of our great nation who has returned the favor by never taking a hand out, by working tirelessly and cheerfully for her family and adoptive country, and for her constant support of Red Mooner himself in this effort. Thuy's niece Wendy Van was always upwards, positive and forward in her support, even though her heart is with the Oakland Raiders. It was Wendy who bought the beautiful “BOSTON RED SOX” window blinds that can be seen in photos of my office herein.
